SEPTEMBER MEETING: LUNCH MEETING

FROM THE COCKPIT (FLT CAPTAIN'S LOG 09- 26): We’re going to Caesars Creek again, but not to “soar!” The “Radio Aircraft Modelers Society” (RAMS) will join our group. Ken & Paula Bailey, will lead us in this art that’s been in existence for over 50 years, and will demonstrate several Radio Controlled aircraft during our time together. It’s a chance to learn a little, maybe even get some “hand on training” and the chance fly one, but more importantly see the skill set required to handle these models. We’ll begin at 10:00am and plan to end the day no later than 4:00pm. Oh yeah, we will pause for lunch.
Please make your reservations by Noon 8 Sep(deadline). Spouses and other guests are invited with a reservation. Cost for the lunch will be $20/person, cash or check made out to Flight-9. We may be able to accept credit cards, depending on cell phone reception ($21 if credit card used). A Formation invitation will be sent out soon. Please respond by using the link in the invitation. If you have any problems with the invitation response, let us know at [email protected]. Cancellations after noon on Tuesday, 8 Sep will be billed for the price of the meal.

STANDARD DEBRIEF ITEMS: LAST FLIGHT LEG (18 Aug): After a buffet dinner, we received a very interesting presentation from one of our own Flight member Jim Pfaff, a recent author of the book entitled, “Jet Noise is the Sound of Freedom,” telling us about the history of the US Air Force--the first aviation pioneers, combat from wood-and-fabric World War I biplanes to the latest drones, the customs, training, and duties of Airmen, heroes and aircraft... and more.

Tuesday, 20 Oct- Founder’s Night. New members will be formally inducted into the Order of Daedalians. Our speaker will be Fred Abrams, who joined Daedalians in October 60 years ago and was actually Flight Captain of Flight 9 at one time. He has many stories, one of which he’ll share about a Close Air Support Mission he flew in the primitive F-100 in a most exciting and daring one that saved many lives. We also hope to honor some of our nonagenarians on that night with a free meal and birthday cake.
